Brittle star (Ophiopholis aculeata)

Description

Notes: Two specimens at the bottom of a rectangular glass jar. The specimens are no longer attached to the black board inside the glass jar. The specimens are yellow in colour and have five appendages, some of which are broken.Attached to the outside of the glass jar is a black label attahced to a brown piece of material tied around the glass jar. Hand written in white ink on the label is 'Ophiphalis bellis, Lum. La HaveBann? Scotia'. Typed in black ink on an off white label on the bottom of the black label is 'From Trustees, Brit. Mus. "Challenger Coll."' Hand written in pencil on whitepaper inside the jar is 'Ophiophalis bellis La Have Bank Nova Scotia Chall. Coll,' On the back of the black board there is rust  of the way up the board. There is no liquid left inside the jar, the specimens are completely dry and appear fragile and brittle. Some of the specimen's appendages are broken.
