mollusc (Nassarius pauperatus)

Description

Synonyms: Nassa pauperata

Notes: The handwritten pencil inscription on a pre-printed "Challenger" Expedition"/"Pres. by Brit. Mus: Nov.99" label states "Nassa pauperata. Lin. var./ Pt. Jackson. Sidney. 2-10 ft/ 4.17.74". The pencil number has been cut off, but refers to "13" in the 1899 Perth Museum Register. A loose green-bordered adhesive label records in ink the number "801" and "Chall. Exped./."Nassa pauperata/L/Port Jackson. Sidney./2-10ft/"Challenger" Exped." 74". The number "801" refers to an entry in the Catalogue of the Conchological Collections in the Perth Museum, by Henry Coates, FSA, dated 1925.
