Brittle star (Ophionotus hexactis)

Synonyms: Ophioglypha hexactis

Notes: Two six-rayed brittle-star specimens. The two specimens are attached to a black board. The top specimen is slightly larger than the bottom specimen and is showing the top side of the animal. One of it's are is broken and appears to have been badly stuck back on again. The bottom specimen is slightly smaller than the top specimen and shows the under-side of the animal. The specimens are cream/off white in colour. There is a brown piece of material tied around the base of the jar. Attached to the outside of the jar is a black label with a red outer rim. Hand written in white ink is 'SIX-RAYED BRITTLE-STAR,. Ophioglypha hexaclis, E. A. Smith ? KERGUELEN ISLAND'. Typed in black ink on off white paper is 'From Trustees, Brit. Mus. "Challenger Coll."' Hand written in pencil on off-white paper inside the jar is 'Ophiogiypha hexaclis Chall Coll. ?locality.' There is no liquid left in the jar and the specimens are completely dry. The specimens are still attached to the board inside the jar. The lid is attached to the top of the jar.
