Sea urchin (Austrocidaris canaliculata)

Description

Synonyms: Goniocidaris canaliculata

Notes: Three specimens attached to a black board inside a rectangular glass jar. The top right hand specimen and bottom left hand specimen are loosely attached to the board and move about inside the liquid. Some of the spines are broken. The liquid has a greenish tinge to it. Attached to the outside of the glass jar is a black label attached to a brown piece of material tied around the glass jar. The left hand side of the label has broken off. Hand written in white ink on the label is '"SEA URCHIN". Goniocidaris canaliculata, A, Agas. KERGUELEN ISLAND.' Typed in black ink on an off white label on the bottom of the black label is 'From Trustees, Brit. Mus. "Challenger Coll"'. Hand written in pencil on white paper placed inside the jar is 'Lidaus Kerguelen 3'. The jar is  full of liquid which has a greenish tinge to it. Some of the spines have broken off the specimens.
