Synonyms: Trochus decoratus

Notes: The molluscs are contained in a small round box, the base of which has a blue biro inscription - "No.513, Chall. Ex. Trochus decoratus, Port Jackson, Sydney". A loose pre-printed "Challenger" Expedition"/"Pres. by Brit. Mus: Nov.99" label, has the handwritten pencil inscription - "Trochus decoratus, Phil: /P.Jackson. Sydney. 2-10 ft". The ink number "513" above refers to an entry in the Catalogue of the Conchological Collections in the Perth Museum, by Henry Coates, FSA, dated 1925. An entry in the 1899 Perth Museum Accession register (1899.54.23), has this specimen listed as number 7; a temporary number given for specimens without British Museum numbers.
