Description

Notes: A pair of shells tied together with string. An ink handwritten label attached to them states "Pecten asperrimun", "Chall.Exp Bass St" (See 1899 Perth Museum Accession Register entry 1899.54.26: a similar entry but "Coates" "No.962"). The specimen box containing the shells has a blue bordered pre-printed adhesive label with an ink inscription "1677", "Chall Exp" and "Pecten asperrimus. Lam./Bass Strait". The ink number (1677) refers to an entry in the Catalogue of the Conchological Collections in the Perth Museum, by Henry Coates, FSA, dated 1925.
