From leaving Fernando de Noronha the ship travelled to Pernambuco and Bahia, Brazil and then onwards to Tristan da Cunha. Tristan da Cunha is an overseas British territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is part of a group of Islands in Saint Helena, which includes Tristan da Cunha, the Nightingale Islands, Inaccessible Island and Gough Island. Challenger visited all of these apart from Gough Island before heading to South Africa.
