From Bermuda to Cape Verde (stations 58 to 94)

When the ship left Bermuda the crew travelled to the Azores, a group of Islands owned by Portugal. They went on back to Madeira and then to Cape Verde, an archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa. The ship stayed at Santiago (called St Jago back then) in August 1873 for two days and St Vincent from July to August 1873 and on the way back home as well, in April 1876. John Murray carried out dredging from the steam pinnace at St Vincent on both these occasions.
